I purchased a Nikon D60 back in 2008, and the only way to download pictures from my camera to my PC was to use PictureProject. At that time I had Explorer 7 and eventually Windows XP had Windows LIVE go to Explorer 8 during and after the change over. There were just a couple of problems, which I can't remember if they were solved. But I still have a problem that did not get solved, which really do not know for sure if it was from PictureProject. This was on my old computer a DELL Dimension 8100.
Recently I upgraded to a new computer DELL XPS9000 and dowloaded all my files from the old computer to a WD MyPASSPORT Essential, to be transferred to the DELL XPS9000. I have not transferred the files since I purchased the new computer in September 2010, because I forgot the password. I'm still wondering, if I can still transfer my PictureProject Photo files to the new Windows 7 Professional program? When I purchased the DELL XPS9000, I asked for PHOTOSHOP Element 8, but it has not been downloaded, yet.
Can PhotoShop and PictureProject work together on Windows 7 Professional? Or Can I transfer my PICTUREPROJECT PHOTOS to PHOTOSHOP ELEMENT 8? Please advise before I download either one, thank you? I found the following on Nikon's support site:.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Picture Project has been discontinued. We now offer View NX 2 as the transfer utility and image browser for all of our digital camera products to easily transfer, view, catalog, label, and organize your images. Please see the top of this page and select View NX 2 for more infomation. Windows 7 is not supported with Picture Project. I have used View NX2 and while it has some editing and file organization tools, it does nothing to the files that would prevent you from using other applications to view and edit them (i.e., I could view/edit a picture with View NX2 and then subsequently view/edit it with Photoshop Elements without doing any steps in between). The Nikon support page allows you to download View NX2 (it includes Nikon Transfer 2 which is helpful in transferring pictures from you camera to your PC) and also the download site has a 'Picture Project Export Utility' that may help you.
Here is a link to the download site.
